Key Milestones on the Path to Here
1990s - The Science Years
BSc in Genetics & Zoology, followed by BSc Honours in Wildlife Management at the University of Pretoria. A lifelong love of the natural world that still informs every ESS and Environmental Management lesson.
Mid 1990s - Becoming an Educator — PGCE, UNISA
The pivot into education. A Higher Diploma in Education from UNISA marked the beginning of a career that would span three decades and three continents.
Early 2000s - Co-Founding Umdoni Christian Academy
Co-founded UCA — a Cambridge International school in South Africa. What began as an acorn became a thriving community of learners, leaders and families.
2001–2021 - 20 Years as Founding Principal
Led UCA for two decades — building a culture of innovation, excellence and genuine human development. A 100% Cambridge pass rate and a Cambridge Learner of the Year award for Environmental Management in 2021.
2018 - 2023 Pioneering GLS Next Gen — South Africa and Hosting / Producing the Global Leadership on the KZN South Coast
First school in South Africa to host a tailored one-day Global Leadership Summit for students aged 12–22. Ran the initiative for four years — shaping a generation of emerging leaders.
2024 - Ongoing - John Maxwell Accreditation & Global Training
Accredited as a John Maxwell Team Member, Coach, Trainer and Speaker. Delivered leadership development programmes in Ghana, Senegal and the Philippines. Registered on E-Speakers.
2024 New Chapter — The Netherlands
Relocated to 's-Hertogenbosch with my husband. A trailing spouse in a new country — and a deeper understanding of what it feels like to be an acorn. Full of potential. Needing the right soil.
2024–Present Acorn to Oak Trees — Born
Not a pivot. A culmination. Everything I've lived, learned and led — distilled into one purpose: to add value to people's lives and help every acorn become the oak tree it was always meant to be.

Three decades of nurturing leaders
I spent 30 years in educational leadership. I co-founded a school, led it for two decades, trained teachers across three continents, pioneered leadership programmes for young people, and built a community where excellence and human dignity were never in competition. Every single day of that journey confirmed the same truth: people don't need to be fixed. They need to be seen, believed in, and given the tools to become who they already have the potential to be.

When my husband and I relocated to the Netherlands, I found myself in a new season, a trailing spouse in a foreign country, rebuilding from scratch. This personal journey reinforced my belief in the power of resilience and adaptation, experiences I now bring to Acorn to Oak Trees.
